For the 2021-2022 winter season the inn will be open seven days per week during weeks involving a school vacation break (i.e., Christmas week, February school vacation). On weeks that there is not a school vacation break the inn will be closed on Monday nights & Tuesday nights and no building-related services (e.g., bathrooms, warming room, equipment rental) will be available on Tuesdays & Wednesdays.
We will follow all COVID safety guidelines prescribed by the NH State government. We will not have additional requirements beyond what is mandated by the NH State government. Masks are optional. We trust each visitor to make the decision that he/she believes is best for his/her particular situation.
Free coffee, hot chocolate, and water is available. Canned soft drinks, pre-packaged snacks, and chili are available for purchase. Visitors are welcome to bring their own food & beverage. There is a refrigerator & microwave oven in the warming room available for use.
The trail system begins right at the inn’s back door, extends thru our 20 acre estate, and continues into the surrounding conservation land. Approximately 15 miles of trails are signed & mapped. There are distances & terrain for all abilities and our trail concierge is happy to assist with route planning. The trails nearest the inn are sometimes packed after snowfall. If so, the packed surface provides for easier walking than the unpacked snow. Those who like the natural snow surface can walk to the side of the packed surface and then venture to the outer trails which are always left in their natural state. The un-packed “back-country” trails that are signed & mapped offer a fun wilderness exploring adventure for those seeking that experience. The packing of the trails will be dependent upon staff availability during these unusual times.
Anyone who wishes to x-c ski on our trails may do so if they bring their own equipment with the understanding that the trails are not groomed for x-c skiing. If so, the daily trail pass fee would apply. Those who wish to x-c ski on groomed trails are encourage to go to Eastman which is located about 20 minutes from Dexter’ Inn. Eastman is a full-service x-c ski operation with over 20 miles of trails groomed for both classic & skate x-c skiing, equipment rental, and lessons. Since Eastman does not offer overnight accommodations we invite anyone looking for an overnight x-c ski trip to stay at Dexter’s Inn, and for those who do we will reimburse one-half of the Eastman trail pass cost.
